J. Mattingly 1845 Distillery is debuting scary-good whiskies this fall, with its first fall spiced Bourbon 31 Blended Bourbon and the ability to customize your own whiskey for your Halloween festivities through its J. Mattingly 1845 craft your bottle program.
Bourbon 31 Blended Bourbon is a play on the brand’s Bourbon 30 Bourbon brand and this limited-edition release was created for the Halloween season.
Bourbon 31 is a blend of three whiskies which have all undergone J. Mattingly 1845’s Double Staving™ process and the blend consists of 51 percent Bourbon, 29 percent Light Whiskey and 20 percent Rye Whiskey. Double Staving is a proprietary process used by J. Mattingly 1845 Distillery that gives the whiskey inside the barrels additional surface exposure to charred barrel staves to impart more flavor and color.
The Double Staved Classic Bourbon used in this blend has just scored a 96 from famed Whiskey Bible author Jim Murray.
The Bourbon 31 Blended Bourbon was created by J. Mattingly 1845’s team of expert blenders to reflect the flavors typically associated with fall. “When we blended these three whiskies, we were looking for a flavor profile that reflects flavors typically associated with fall, such as pumpkin and cinnamon while matching the light-hearted fun we’re having by changing the brand name from Bourbon 30 to Bourbon 31 to celebrate the Halloween season,” said Harry Richart, president, J. Tasting notes for this bourbon describe it as having a nose of nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla and walnut, with the flavors of brown sugar, cinnamon, and fall baking spices on the palate. On the finish, pumpkin bread, baker’s chocolate and seasoned oak are prevalent.

Ryan Pelton is an international, award winning, Elvis tribute artist, actor, and singer/songwriter.
He often refers to himself as the “Forrest Gump” of the ETA world, and claims to have been blessed with an extraordinary amount of dumb luck.
In September of 1998, Ryan Pelton was dared by his mother to enter a local Elvis contest in Columbus, OH.
At the time, Ryan was building websites for a living. Ryan didn’t grow up in an “Elvis” household. He knew little about the King of rock-n-roll, except for the fact that adults in public often said he looked like a “young Elvis” growing up. Despite only having one week to prepare, Ryan entered the contest and against all odds, he won.
“I remember having to write the lyrics on my hand because I wasn’t familiar with any of the songs.
And keep in mind, I had never sang before in my life before that first contest.”
Pelton’s days as a website designer were soon over, as he wanted to pursue the entertainment world, saying, “I don’t want to be ninety years old one day and look back saying, ‘what if?’”
Over the next decade, Pelton honed his craft becoming an international, award-winning Elvis Tribute Artist. In 2001 Pelton was declared the “World Champion” when he won the Worldwide Images of the King Contest in Memphis, TN.
He has performed all over the world, from casinos to fairs, theaters to festivals, production shows to professional sports arenas.
Entertaining audiences in the tens-of-thousands, there can be no doubt that Ryan Pelton is the rarest kind of performer – living up to his billing time and time again.
Throughout his career, Pelton has been involved in a number or unique opportunities that have led him to call himself the “Forest Gump” of the ETA world. Ryan performed with the world’s largest impersonator production show, Legends in Concert, for nearly a decade, including a six year stint in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Early in his career, Ryan appeared in an all-Elvis version of The Weakest Link, where he walked away the winner of the second largest total ever won on the show in the United States. He has appeared in an international commercial for Volvo, was the featured ETA in a special collector’s “Elvis Edition” of TV Guide, and was the body double for Elvis as he performed a duet of “If I Can Dream” on American Idol with Celine Dion.
During this time he also made his first movie appearance as he played the role of Elvis in the Dakota Fanning move, Hounddog.
In 2011, Ryan Pelton decided it was time to take his career to the next level when he released his first original album, Wash Over Me. Within a week after the release of the album, Pelton was signed as a song writer by a well-known Nashville publishing company.
Shortly thereafter, Ryan Pelton was offered the lead role in a Hollywood film called The Identical. Ryan Pelton took on the screen name of “Blake Rayne” for the film, which also starred Ray Liotta, Ashley Judd, and Seth Green.
The film, which won the audience choice award for best film at the Nashville Film Festival, opened in theaters on September 5, 2014, and is currently a top ten rental on Netflix.
The Elvolution
While he was unable to perform as Elvis during the production of The Identical, Ryan Pelton has returned in 2015, touring again as the King of rock-n-roll. His entertainment company is launching a new show called The Elvolution, and he has dedicated himself to competing in Elvis Presley Enterprises’ 2015 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest in Memphis, TN on August 11 & 13, 2015.
Ryan still continues to write and record his original music under the name of Blake Rayne, and is currently working on his first original album under that name. “Blake” also continues to audition for acting roles, saying that, “Acting is one of the hardest things I have ever done… I guess that’s why I like it so much. It kind of calls to my soul”.
But have no doubt – Ryan Pelton got his first break in entertainment by singing Elvis Presley music, and he has no plans to stop what got him where he is any time soon.
Says Pelton, “Life is like a box of chocolates… and I got the one that looks like Elvis! I consider myself lucky… and I owe so much to Elvis. Without the King and his music, I’d still be building websites.”

Celebrating the Recognition of the Walnut Street Pony Bridge’s Admission to the National Register of Historic Places in Hellertown, PA on October 14 2023.
Hellertown Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce, proud partner of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Hellertown Historical Society to celebrate the addition of the Walnut Street “Pony” Bridge into America’s National Register of Historic Places and commemorate the hard work that goes into gaining such a significant designation!
Celebration and ribbon cutting on October 14th from 12:00-3:00 PM
The celebration and ribbon cutting will take place on October 14th from 12:00-3:00 PM, with a 12:30 PM ceremonial cutting of the ribbon. This event is free and open to the public, and all are welcome to attend.In addition to the ribbon cutting ceremony, there will be live music from The Wonton Soups, the museum will be open for tours, and areas describing the process of getting recognized by the National Register of Historic Places!
Light refreshments will be available, provided by Dana’s Catering. The celebration will occur rain or shine!
Authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Park Service’s National Register of Historic Places is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect America’s historic and archeological resources.
The Walnut Street Bridge – built in 1860 – received recognition on the National Register for being the last known example of a single-span, single-lane Pratt through-truss bridge in North America. Society member Roy “Chip” Wagner was responsible for researching the bridge’s history and writing the National Register application.
The bridge was fabricated from both cast and wrought iron at the Beckel Iron Foundry and Machine Shop in Bethlehem. It was placed in service across Saucon Creek in 1860 and carried pedestrians, horses, buggies, and eventually cars and tractors. In the late 1960s, the bridge was declared structurally incapable of supporting school bus traffic and was replaced with a modern structure. The original bridge was saved and relocated, primarily in one piece, to a site along Walnut Street adjacent to the 1760 Heller-Wagner Grist Mill operated by the Historical Society. The bridge remained there, untouched, for more than 20 years.
Volunteers from the Society worked with graduate students from Lehigh University and local businesses to rehabilitate the bridge and restore it to its original appearance. The project spanned four years from 1994-1998. One of the Lehigh students was Perry Green – now Dr. Perry Green – who will deliver the event’s keynote speech. Most of his fellow Lehigh students who worked on the project will be in attendance.

We look forward to celebrating with the entire Hellertown Borough, and hope to continue to bring events and recognition like this to Hellertown!”
“When I look at the beautiful Walnut Street Pony Bridge, I’m reminded of the importance of knowing our history and appreciating the contributions of those who came before us. It is incredible that something made in the 1800’s to accommodate foot traffic and horses serviced the community until the 1970’s! Having an appreciation for the work of the people who lived in our community before, and the hard work of community members to preserve that history, is humbling, and it is incredible to be able to see that the only surviving bridge of its kind is right here in our back yard!” said Kate Hartney, coordinator for the Hellertown Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce.
All community members are welcome to celebrate the Pony Bridge being recognized by the National Register of Historic Places. There will be limited edition t-shirts and other Historical Society related merchandise available for purchase to support the work of the Hellertown Historical Society.
