Lehigh Valley Haunted Poconos Park Offers Halloween Fun for Everyone

On Halloween weekend Oct 28-29, Lehigh Valley’s Haunted Poconos Park unleashes fun for all ages, with a slew of events from kid-friendly trick or treating to genuine thrills, even sit down dinner and a dance party.

And you’re invited!

Poconos Park is popular for its central location in North East Pennsylvania, with easy drives from NYC, Philly and the Lehigh Valley.

This time of year the road trip is gorgeous.   But as you get closer, your view turns from romantic Autumn to haunted destination.

You drive deep into the dark woods, fog creeps around your car, moonlight pierces through the trees, howling wind makes screachy scratching sounds.

Just then, you expect Leatherface to run out sparking up his chainsaw – and the party hasn’t even started yet.

All of the festivities take place within walking distance at the newly-acquired Pocono Park, a huge indoor / outdoor destination that hosts concerts, theater shows, corporate events, weddings and private gatherings.

This weekend it’s transformed into a Halloween Haven.

Pocono Park manages to create Halloween for everyone, from you littlest goblin who wants candy, laughs, and no scares to the group of friends who want scares and thrills.   Every Halloween and horror lover has a spot here.

For Halloween, event company From The Roots has taken over and promises thrills, smiles and memories for you, your friend and your family.

John M. Oakes, From The Roots

John M. Oakes who runs From The Roots , loves putting on a show and delights in every twist and turn from ultra scary, to the cutest moments.

Earlier this week, we got a preview tour of the most popular attraction – Playhouse of Horror.

It’s a fast-moving, screams around every corner, standing – crawling – jump fest.  Pro tip: Go through it next to your friend who screams the most — it’ll +10 the whole experience for ya.  The Playhouse is fun, fast-paced, well-designed and has the mark of any good maze, when it’s done you’re high-fiving your friends and wanting to get right back in line to go again.

But that’s not all.  Oakes has a banquet planned and an 80’s throwback Dance Party.

Check out each event listed below

Lehigh Valley Humane Society Launches Oct 22 Community Day & Grand Opening!

Lehigh Valley Humane Society Community Day & Grand Opening of Vet Clinic Oct 22

Come tour the brand-new building and celebrate the long-awaited grand reopening of the Lehigh Valley Humane Society on Oct 22

Lehigh Valley Humane Society

There will be live music, kids activities, pet caricatures, food trucks, and more.A ribbon cutting ceremony run by the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce will be at 12pm.

Lehigh Valley Humane Society CEO Hal Warner shares

“On October 22nd 2022, the Lehigh Valley Humane Society

will reintroduce ourselves with not only a new name, but a renewed commitment

to the people and the animals of the Lehigh Valley.

“…Our new state-of-the-art facility will feature over 100 new dog kennels, hundreds of square feet of free roaming cat space, outdoor play yards, dog training and animal grooming.

Lehigh Valley Humane Society

The new LVHS will also offer a brand-new full-service Community Vet Clinic that offers high-quality services at affordable prices. This reopening is a symbol of our ongoing mission to provide exceptional services to the animals of the Lehigh Valley and beyond.”

The nonprofit was founded in 1906 to provide a haven for homeless animals and to prevent cruelty to both animals and children. All homeless animals brought to them will find sanctuary and upon entering, each animal is examined, vaccinated, housed, and fed. In June of 2018 they launched their Community Vet Clinic, a much-needed program to enable responsible pet owners to get otherwise-inaccessible medical care for their pet.

Their mission drives their initiatives as they seek “to be the leading advocate for breeds such as pit bulls that often are left behind or ignored by other shelters. To provide high quality medical care for all animals and to offer financial assistance to those pet owners that cannot otherwise afford vet services. To match responsible pet seekers with their next best friend in order to find the perfect home for the animals in our care.”

Executive Vice President of Affiliated Chambers, Easton & Phillipsburg Area Initiatives, & Northern Tier Jessica O’Donnell-Gower looks forward to the celebration, “The Lehigh Valley Humane Society not only provides a tremendous service for our community and their furry friends, but they also act as true community partners with their involvement and support of other organizations. This Saturday is just one small way we can show up and show the support in return. We hope to see our community come out in full force for this milestone celebration of the Lehigh Valley Humane Society!”

CarnEvil

The Clowns of CarnEVIL are a unique Company, outcasts, rejected and let go from a former show that they have resided with before. The reasons these clowns were let go is not exactly known, however rumor has it these individuals have something odd and not quite right about them, wreaking havoc and turmoil wherever they go. Serving up tricks that make even the bravest of men jump and tremble, and treats that have been rotting for some time, making those with even the strongest of stomachs queasy.

What started out as a simple traveling Halloween carnival featuring clowns, has turned into something more akin to a twisted and evil horror show.

Step right up!

Dystopia

In a distant but close future, exactly two centuries from now in 2222, a lot has changed in society, or what’s left of it. Unfortunately, government has devolved to nothing as technology and media made the last surviving humans turn to a more rogue lifestyle with an obsession of who they are not.

Anthropomorphic, obsessing over their ancient heritage, deeming themselves deities or other bizarre avatars, everyone remaining have done drastic things over the years to turn themselves as physically realistically possible into the online personas they’ve claimed to be and match their virtual profile pictures. These individuals had been named ‘The Rust Rogues.’

Any human they find who hasn’t been corrupted is an otherworldly sight to them, and some tight-knit communities respond to strangers with nothing, acceptance, or drive them away, generally with fear and noise. Those in the community who hate sound don’t thrive as successfully as those who love it and show it.

Strength does come in numbers, which has made the more extroverted Rust Rogues gather in smaller communities, each one having their own different morals, hunting strategies and hierarchies.

Within each group, they’re all finding ways to stay alive and well in the harsh world they’re forced to call home.

As darkness falls, mist rolls into The Hollow, bringing a still, eeriness to the once friendly Halloween pumpkin patch. As you make your way through the winding vines, you find yourself face-to-face with ghoulish, flickering pumpkin carvings. Did that one just move? Step in for a closer look and find out if these pumpkins really are alive or if it’s just your imagination playing tricks on you.

The Lair

Each night of Halloween Haunt you can journey into the catacombs and tombs of the most feared creatures of Transylvania to bear witness to the abomination of the children of the night. Over a century’s worth of blood starved vampires lurk around each corner of their daytime prison as they wait for the curtain of darkness to shadow their search for the liquid of the living. The damned and demonic hellions with needle sharp fangs call you to quench their need for fresh blood.

Watch your neck and clutch your garlic before you join the ranks of the barbaric and ravenous living dead in this haunted house. Only you can discover the truth of THE LAIR.

The Front Bottoms Stop in Poconos at Stroudsburg’s Sherman Theater Sept 15

The Front Bottoms Stop at Sherman Theater on North American Tour 2022
Indie-rock outfit The Front Bottoms bring their 2022 tour to the Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg on Thursday, September 15.
Opening for the band will be The Joy Formidable and Mobley.
In support of their new EP, Theresa, The Front Bottoms will hit the road for a five-week headline tour across North America.
The EP is led by the single “More Than It Hurts You.”
The five song collection serves as the third installment of the band’s popular Grandma EP series and features new recordings of never before released fan favorite songs.
During 2014, the guys unveiled the Rose EP named in honor of drummer Mat Uychich’s late grandmother who passed the same year. Four years later, the Ann EP followed in 2018 named after guitarist and vocalist Brian Sella’s grandmother. Theresa finds The Front Bottoms continuing the tradition by reheating tracks from their earliest days and properly releasing them for the first time.

The Front Bottoms headlined a special sold out three show residency at Jersey City’s White Eagle Hall this summer.

The Jersey City shows marked the first live performances from The Front Bottoms since the 2021 iteration of their popular year-end bash, Champagne Jam.  Last year, The Front Bottoms shared the standalone singles “Lover Boy” and “Voodoo Magic,” the latter of which the band enlisted Matt Skiba of Blink-182 and Alkaline Trio to play guitar on.
Comprised of guitarist/vocalist Brian Sella and drummer Mathew Uychich, The Front Bottoms have gripped listeners and press around the world with their ragged honesty and emotional urgency.
In 2020, The Front Bottoms released their celebrated album, In Sickness & In Flames, a twelve song collection produced by Mike Sapone.  A.V. Club declared, “The Front Bottoms are as vibrant as ever on In Sickness & In Flames, a reliably great collection of folk-punk anthems that rattle the soul with crunchy riffs, electrifying hooks, and Brian Sella’s idiosyncratic lyricism, which remains as amiable as it is anxiety-ridden.”
The Alternative detailed, “While In Sickness & In Flames was written prior to the pandemic, so much of it feels so tethered to our present collective experience, from the introspection and reflective growth that is showcased in the songwriting, to the sweeping highs and lows of the music itself. This album is the perfect companion piece to the anxiety of standing in the face of uncertainty.”

Switchfoot ‘This Is Our Christmas’ Tour at Penn’s Peak Sunday, Dec 4

Penn’s Peak announces Switchfoot  ‘This Is Our Christmas Tour’ performs Sunday, Dec 4

Grammy Award winning rock band Switchfoot announces their new LP, this is our Christmas album, out November 4th.

Marking the band’s first-ever holiday record, this is our Christmas album finds Switchfoot infusing their signature West Coast sound to a number of holiday classics and five, new original Christmas songs.

Cheery, nostalgic and brimming with sunshine,

the 11 track collection was inspired by everyone from the Beach Boys to Black Flag

and promises to be the perfect soundtrack for the holiday season with a new California twist.

“Christmas is an emotional treasure chest for a songwriter to pull from,” lead Singer Jon Foreman says.

“It’s a season stretched tight with contradictions: celebrating the free gifts of love and grace with an outburst of materialist capitalist consumption. An emotional roller coaster of family and friends, hopes and scars- bringing out the worst and the best in all of us.” A project that’s been years in the making, this is our Christmas album, wraps its arms wide around these contradictions.

Alongside the album announcement, Switchfoot announces their North American “this is our Christmas tour” which sees the band visiting Napa, Detroit, Monterey, Anaheim and more.

Switchfoot’s live show is a force to be reckoned with, and the band’s first Christmas tour is no exception. Since the band’s creation they’ve performed to sold out audiences in over 40 countries and have racked up over five million tickets sold. These shows are going to be special as the group, that’s been described as “definition of cool” by Vulture, will perform one Christmas themed set, and another set filled with the band’s classic hits like “Dare You To Move,” “Meant to Live” and more.

“It’s truly incredible the way music connects us all: making even strangers feel like family,” Jon Foreman says. “To celebrate this season, singing these songs together in the same room is a gift that we can’t wait to unwrap. We’re so excited to head out on our first Christmas tour ever!”

Artist pre-sale begins today, September 7th at 12pm local time, local tour pre-sales start

Thursday, September 8th at 10am local time, and general tour on-sale begins Friday,

September 9th at 12pm local time. See below for full routing. Purchase tickets here:

https://switchfoot.com/pages/tour

this is our Christmas album is a follow up to 2021’s interobang, which saw the band opt for raw 60’s era pop-infused feel and straying away from their typical rock sound. Penned through the pandemic, interrobang celebrates the journey when the destination is unsure. It illustrates the contrast between joy and pain, faith and doubt, and marks a bold new creative peak for the multi-platinum rockers.
