The Disco Biscuits Bring ‘trancefusion’ Dance Party to Penn’s Peak January 20 – 21 2023

The Disco Biscuits Bring their ‘trancefusion’ dance party to Penn’s Peak January 20 – 21 2023

The Disco Biscuits are an entirely different band today than they were when they first broke out of Philadelphia in the mid-90s.

That’s not to say that they’ve abandoned their foundation, switched gears or set sail for distant shores.

The Disco Biscuits are still very much the pioneers of “trancefusion,” bridging the gap between electronic music and jam bands.

They still remain rock pioneers whose soul belongs as much to marathon dance parties as it does to live improvisational journeys. They still employ emerging technologies to help them create music that is 100 percent human although, perhaps, not entirely of this earth.

Little Feat: Boogie Your Spring Away Tour w/ Special Guest Miko Marks at Penn’s Peak April 23

Penn’s Peak is proud to announce Little Feat- Boogie Your Spring Away Tour w/ Special Guest Miko Marks , Sunday, April 23

Little Feat is the classic example of a fusion of many styles and musical genres made into something utterly distinctive.

Their brilliant  musicianship transcends boundaries, uniting California rock, funk, folk, jazz, country, rockabilly, and New Orleans swamp boogie into a rich gumbo, that has been leading people in joyful dance ever since.

Little Feat’s Lowell George connected with Bill Payne

It began in 1969 when Frank Zappa was smart enough to fire Lowell George from the Mothers of Invention and tell him to go start a band of his own.  Soon after, Lowell connected with Bill Payne, which stirred up sparks.  They then found drummer Richie Hayward.

Penn’s Peak is proud to announce Little Feat- Boogie Your Spring Away Tour w/ Special Guest Miko Marks , Sunday, April 23

They were quickly signed by Warner Bros. and began working on the first of twelve albums with that venerable company.

Little Feat’s first album featured the instant-classic tune Willin’

The first album, Little Feat, featured the instant-classic tune “Willin’,” and the follow-up Sailin’ Shoes added “Easy to Slip,” “Trouble,” “Tripe Face Boogie,” “Cold Cold Cold” and the title track to their repertoire.

Paul Barrére, Kenny Gradney (bass), and Sam Clayton (percussion), joined up, and the latter two remain rock-solid members of Little Feat’s rhythm section.

1973’s Dixie Chicken gave them the title track and “Fat Man in the Bathtub,” as good a blues as any rock band has ever written.  Their career to that point was summed up with the live Waiting for Columbus, truly one of the best live albums rock has ever heard.

Fifty years on the road cost them Lowell George, then Richie Hayward and Paul Barrére, but the music has carried them forward. When you spend your life on the road you can get eaten up by the stresses, or you can hold on to your music and your friends and the joy of the people out front and keep the priorities straight the way the Featsters have.

Little Feat in 2021 is…

Little Feat in 2021 is:  Bill Payne, Keyboards and Vocals; Sam Clayton, Percussion and Vocals; Fred Tackett, Guitars and Vocals, Kenny Gradney, Bass; Scott Sharrard, Guitars and Vocals; and Tony Leone, drums.

Fifty years on, they’ve been up and they’ve been down and they know where they belong—standing or sitting behind their instruments, playing for you.  And anything’s possible, because the end is not in sight.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy ‘Bring their Swing’ at Penn’s Peak Friday March 24, 2023

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy marks the 29th anniversary performing at Penn’s Peak Friday March 24, 2023

April, 2022, marks the 29th anniversary of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s remarkable arrival onto the music scene.

Since its formation in the early nineties in Ventura, California, the band has toured virtually nonstop, performing on average over 150 shows a year, and has produced a sizable catalog of recorded music, with sales of over 2 million albums to date.

Early on, during their legendary residency at the Derby nightclub in Los Angeles, they reminded the world, in the midst of the grunge era no less, that it was still cool to swing.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy marks the 29th anniversary performing at Penn's Peak Friday March 24, 2023

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy marks the 29th anniversary performing at Penn’s Peak Friday March 24, 2023

The band, co-founded by singer Scotty Morris and drummer Kurt Sodergren, was at the forefront of the swing revival of that time, blending a vibrant fusion of the classic American sounds of jazz, swing, and dixieland, with the energy and spirit of contemporary culture.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s all original core line-up

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s all original core line-up includes Scotty Morris (lead vocals and guitar), Kurt Sodergren (drums), Dirk Shumaker (double bass and vocals), Andy Rowley (baritone saxophone and vocals), Glen “The Kid” Marhevka (trumpet), Karl Hunter (saxophones and clarinet) and Joshua Levy (piano and arranger).

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s efforts to promote and revitalize swing music have taken shape as much more than a simple tribute. Taking inspiration from the creators of this uniquely American art form, the band’s original horn-infused music and legendary high energy show introduces the genre to a new and younger generation while remaining cognizant and respectful of the music’s rich legacy.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s first phase of stardom

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s first phase of stardom featured an appearance in the 1996 indie film Swingers, a movie that not only launched the careers of Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau, but introduced Big Bad Voodoo Daddy to an audience beyond their Los Angeles base.

The band’s music has appeared in countless films and television shows, including The Wild, Despicable Me, Phineas & Ferb, Friends, Third Rock From The Sun, Ally McBeal, and So You Think You Can Dance. They have appeared live on Dancing With The Stars, Late Night With Conan O’Brien, NBC’s Christmas in Rockefeller Center, The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a remarkable seven appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and the Super Bowl XXXIII Halftime Show.

The band has also appeared as special guests with many of the country’s most distinguished symphony orchestras, and has performed for three U.S. Presidents.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is not slowing down

After 29 years, 11 records, over 3000 live shows, and countless appearances in film and television, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is showing no signs of slowing down, and is looking forward to sharing its music with new and old fans alike, in 2022.

Greater Northern Lehigh Hosts 2nd Annual Northwestern Lehigh Tree Lighting at Ontelaunee Park on Dec 4

Santa Claus is scheduled to return to New Tripoli a little early this year, kicking off the holiday season on December 4th in Ontelaunee Park!

Returning for its second year, the Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Heidelberg and Lynn Townships and the Honey Done List Co. for the 2nd Annual Northwestern Lehigh Tree Lighting Ceremony.

“Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success,

and we could not be more pleased to be back at Ontelaunee for a second astounding year,”

said Kylie Adams-Weiss

Assistant Vice President of Affiliated Chambers for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.

“Our partnership with Heidelberg and Lynn Townships, as well as the entire Northwestern Lehigh community at large, has created a holiday celebration like no other.”

The event will take place on December 4, 2022 from 4:30-7:30 PM and is free and open to the public.

As in its first year, the event will feature festive holiday performances from Northwestern Lehigh and Weisenberg elementary school choruses and dance groups from Rhythm and Sole, with an expanded schedule to include Olivia & the New Life Drum Circle and the Ebenezer Church Choir Carolers.

Prior to the official start of the event, the Lynn-Heidelberg Historical Society will be open for tours of their buildings within Ontelaunee Park from 2:00-5:00 PM.

A vendor market will take place in the lower pavilion with crafters, nonprofits and local businesses with goods for sale for holiday shopping; the upper pavilion will host a variety of food samples (including soup samples from Curious Goods at the Bake Oven Inn, hotdogs and hot chocolate), giveaway items at the Chamber Booth, and a holiday DJ. Throughout the evening, attendees will have the opportunity to partake in cash pony rides (sponsored by Heintzelman Funeral Homes – Schnecksville and Venture Farms), as well as take photos with Frozen’s Elsa, Ana and Olaf. Santa Claus himself will make an appearance, too.

In addition to the Tree Lighting festivities, the event will also host a food drive.

to those in need all year long,”

said Jessica O’Donnell-Gower

Executive Vice President of Affiliated Chambers for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.

“The holidays remind us that the spirit of giving is alive and well, and the Chamber likes to ensure that we are helping others in the community.” This year’s food drive will collect canned goods and nonperishable items for the Lowhill Food Pantry.

“The Greater Northern Lehigh chamber has a long history of Christmas Tree Lighting events,” said Andy Gildner, Chair of the Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce and owner of Keystone Technology LLC. “Last year’s inaugural event was an exciting success, and we look forward to continue to grow this tradition in Northwestern Lehigh.”

Dokken & Lynch Mob Play Penn’s Peak with Special Guest Ted Poley February 18, 2023

Dokken & Lynch Mob Play Penn’s Peak with Special Guest Ted Poley, Saturday, February 18, 2023

Dokken exploded out of the boiling hard rock/heavy metal scene in Los Angeles in the early 1980s. 1983’s “Breaking the Chains” with its catchy title track, set the stage for Dokken becoming the most dominant creative and commercial force in the world of Melodic Hard Rock for the following years.

Such classic albums as “Tooth and Nail”, “Under Lock and Key” and “Back for the Attack” all became Multi-Platinum selling smashes and the live “Beast from the East” went gold in Europe and Japan.

Songs like “Alone Again”, “Just Got Lucky”, “Into the Fire”, “In My Dreams”, “Unchain the Night”, “Dream Warriors”, “Burning like a Flame” and “Heaven Sent” are still nowadays regarded among the genre’s finest.

Dokken has shared the stage with AC/DC, Metallica, Aerosmith, Judas Priest, Van Halen, Kiss, Scorpions, as well as Bon Jovi, just to name a few.

The band hit stadium status in 1988, playing in front of over a million fans in just five weeks. It seemed Dokken was on the verge of superstardom. But like so many other bands that have come before and after them, Dokken broke up his group in 1989.

In 1994, the legendary A&R man John Kalodner offered Dokken a recording contract on the condition the group had to be original members. The band released the appropriately titled “Dysfunctional” in 1995 selling 450,000 copies, which by the mid ’90s was considered by industry standards very respectable. But just as they were on the verge of releasing a second single, filming a video, starting a world tour and “taking it all the way”, as Don Dokken puts it, the baggage from their past reared its ugly head, and again the group began to unravel. Soon after guitarist George Lynch left the group, he was replaced by Reb Beach (Winger, Whitesnake).

They released “Erase the Slate” in 1999 Followed by their DVD “Live from the Sun” in 2000. In 2001, Beach was replaced by John Norum (Europe) and released the album “Long Way Home”. By 2003 guitarist Jon Levin came on board with the subsequent release of the albums “Hell to pay”. Lightening strikes Again’ and ‘Broken Bones’ and has remained with the group for over 20 years now. All 3 CD’s have been aclamained as a true and definite return to there classic sound.

In October 2016, the original members of Dokken reunited for a brief Sold-Out tour of Japan, playing in several Arenas as well as co-Headlining the Loud Park Festival with the Scorpions. But as Don says, “It was fun to play with the original members again, but my current line-up of Dokken will remain so.”

DOKKEN is now Don Dokken (vocals), Mick Brown (drums), Jon Levin (guitar) and Chris McCarvill (bass).

Dokken has survived and kept their loyal fans in a time when people’s tastes change as fast as Britney Spears’ wardrobe, they have been embraced by a whole new generation of rock fans. They recently played at ‘The Bang Your Head Festival’ in Germany as well as ‘Rambling Man’ in England receiving rave reviews. The group is now currently back in the U S wrapping up there 2017 world tour! The group plans on a new record release in 2018.

They say a cat has nine lives and it seems Dokken is enjoying more than a few as well!

Lynch Mob Plays Penn’s Peak Saturday, February 18, 2023

Lynch Mob

Lynch Mob was formed by George Lynch in 1989 after the breakup of Dokken, his long time band of which he was a founding member and main song writer. The band signed with Elektra Records, and immediately released “Wicked Sensation” which would go on to achieve gold status. The album received much critical and fan acclaim, and would pave the way for over a dozen records over the next 30+ years.

The band is known for it’s high energy, guitar driven, hard rock vibe, while featuring elements of classic rock, blues, metal, with a propensity for improvisation. The current lineup features Lynch, along side of Jimmy D’Anda, Gabriel Colon, and Jaron Gulino.

On drums, O.G. BULLETBOYS drummer Jimmy D’Anda brings the band an old school Dr Funkenstein funky, but heavy back beat. He’s also known for being the pie eating champion of Boyle Heights East Los Angeles 84’. Go Rough Riders!

Gabriel Colón is a Puerto Rican singer who started his career with a band called Fast Taker. The band would go on to release a top 10 single in Puerto Rico’s rock radio market. Since arriving in the states, he has showcased his wide range of vocal talent with many rock acts including, Gothic Knights, Culprit, White Wizzard, and Rowan Robertson.

New Jersey’s own Jaron Gulino brings the east coast attitude and energy. He has prospered in a long career as the bassist in a variety of bands, most notably post-grunge rock band Tantric. Gulino achieved chart topping success with multiple releases from Tantric, as well as performing on many high profile tours and events with numerous other acts.

Lynch Mob is currently celebrating the legacy of an incredible history, with shows consisting of classic, career spanning material, as well as a heavy dose of Dokken material.
