‘River of Dreams’ – Billy Joel tribute band, Avi Wisnia, to Benefit Rehabilitation of Pocono Wildlife at The Sherman Theater June 7.
The Sherman Theater is hosting a concert on the Summerstage, 648 Route 115 in Saylorsburg on Wednesday, June 7 at 7:00 PM which will raise funds to benefit the rehabilitation of Pocono wildlife.
Featured performers are the River of Dreams band, a tribute to Billy Joel with special guest Avi Wisnia.
For each ticket purchased in advance at ShermanTheater.com using the Promo Code WILDLIFE, the Theater will give back to the community and donate $5.00 to the cause.
“The Wilderz at Pocono Wildlife provides humane care for injured, orphaned and sick wildlife for the purpose of returning them to the wild. In addition, we provide education and information to the public about wild natural resources in the Poconos and we depend on donations to continue our work,” said Executive Director Susan Downing.
At the concert, River Of Dreams will faithfully recreate the sound and the feel of Billy Joel’s classic songs. This experience brings Billy Joel’s music to life performing such standards as:
- You May Be Right
- Allentown
- Captain Jack
- New York State of Mind
- Scenes From an Italian Restaurant
- We Didn’t Start The Fire
- Only The Good Die Young
- It’s Still Rock & Roll To Me
…and many, many more.
When a live band can get people to dance and sing along AND raise funds for Pocono wildlife, it is sure to be a magical evening.
The gates open at 6:15 and the show starts with the music of Avi Wisnia.
Wisnia is an award-winning singer/songwriter, finding inspiration in 1950’s west-coast jazz, acoustic American folk, Brazilian bossa nova, and contemporary piano pop. His clever lyrics give a knowing nod to his contemporaries, while his smooth vocals and deft piano skills assure you that this is truly something new.
“This is a perfect opportunity for folks to come out and celebrate community with friends and family.
Listen to great music, raise some funds to support The Wilderz at Pocono Wildlife, and enjoy a summer evening together,”
Sherman Theater President and CEO Rich Berkowitz

Thanksgiving in Lehigh Valley: the perfect stuffing bread DOES exist – and it’s… [recipe inside]
This Thanksgiving in the Lehigh Valley, the perfect stuffing bread DOES exist – and it’s brioche. As in St Pierre Brioche Thanksgiving Stuffing
No Thanksgiving spread is complete without a hearty stuffing. While add-ins are a matter of preference, choosing the right bread is crucial. One underrated choice is eggy, rich brioche – and with St Pierre Bakery, you don’t need to go to France to get it.
Thanks to its butter and egg content, St Pierre’s Brioche Loaf provides the perfect balance of crisp toastiness while remaining soft and creamy inside, while its lightly sweet flavor adds a decadent quality that can still lean savory. Attached below is an approachable recipe for stuffing allowing for all the craveable crunch for the whole family with minimal effort required.
St Pierre Brioche Thanksgiving Stuffing
By @BrandiMilloy
Ingredients
1 loaf St. Pierre Brioche Bread
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 medium onion, diced
3/4 cup celery, diced
3/4 cup carrots, diced
1 cup mushrooms, diced
2 large eggs
1 tbsp. fresh rosemary, chopped
3 sprigs fresh thyme, just the leaves
1 tbsp. fresh sage, chopped
1 small apple (granny smith works well), peeled and diced
Salt and pepper
Directions
-
Preheat oven to 350 F. Cut brioche bread into 1” cubes and bake for about 10-15 minutes until toasted.
-
Meanwhile, into a pot over medium high heat add butter until melted. Add onion, celery and carrots and cook until everything starts to soften, about 7 minutes. Add mushrooms and cook for 2 minutes longer. Remove from heat and set aside.
-
Into a bowl whisk together the eggs, herbs, apples, mushrooms, and salt and pepper. Add your cooked vegetables and mix to combine.
-
Pour mixture on top of toasted bread and stir to combine. Bake stuffing for about 45 minutes. If your stuffing starts to get too brown, cover until finished baking. Enjoy!
As America’s favorite brioche brand, St Pierre’s products are widely available via grocery stores nationwide as well as Walmart.

Lehigh Valley Haunted Poconos Park Offers Halloween Fun for Everyone
On Halloween weekend Oct 28-29, Lehigh Valley’s Haunted Poconos Park unleashes fun for all ages, with a slew of events from kid-friendly trick or treating to genuine thrills, even sit down dinner and a dance party.
And you’re invited!
Poconos Park is popular for its central location in North East Pennsylvania, with easy drives from NYC, Philly and the Lehigh Valley.
This time of year the road trip is gorgeous. But as you get closer, your view turns from romantic Autumn to haunted destination.
You drive deep into the dark woods, fog creeps around your car, moonlight pierces through the trees, howling wind makes screachy scratching sounds.
Just then, you expect Leatherface to run out sparking up his chainsaw – and the party hasn’t even started yet.
All of the festivities take place within walking distance at the newly-acquired Pocono Park, a huge indoor / outdoor destination that hosts concerts, theater shows, corporate events, weddings and private gatherings.
This weekend it’s transformed into a Halloween Haven.
Pocono Park manages to create Halloween for everyone, from you littlest goblin who wants candy, laughs, and no scares to the group of friends who want scares and thrills. Every Halloween and horror lover has a spot here.
For Halloween, event company From The Roots has taken over and promises thrills, smiles and memories for you, your friend and your family.
John M. Oakes who runs From The Roots , loves putting on a show and delights in every twist and turn from ultra scary, to the cutest moments.
Earlier this week, we got a preview tour of the most popular attraction – Playhouse of Horror.
It’s a fast-moving, screams around every corner, standing – crawling – jump fest. Pro tip: Go through it next to your friend who screams the most — it’ll +10 the whole experience for ya. The Playhouse is fun, fast-paced, well-designed and has the mark of any good maze, when it’s done you’re high-fiving your friends and wanting to get right back in line to go again.
But that’s not all. Oakes has a banquet planned and an 80’s throwback Dance Party.
