North Whitehall’s Tree Lighting Returns December 3 at Kolapechka Park

Celebrate the North Whitehall Tree Lighting on Dec. 3 with music, reindeer, Santa, vendors, and community cheer at Kolapechka Park.

Every town has its holiday moment, the one night when neighbors bundle up, kids buzz with excitement, and the whole community glows a little brighter.

In North Whitehall Township, that moment arrives with the beloved annual tree lighting, now shining even more brightly thanks to the Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce.

This year, the event is bigger, more festive, and filled with the kind of charm that families across the Valley look forward to.

On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, Kolapechka Park will transform into a festive wonderland—from twinkling lights to live reindeer to warm mugs of hot chocolate. For many locals, it’s the night that officially kicks off the holidays—and yes, it’s perfectly acceptable to act fun-loving and childlike again. It’s all part of the magic.

A Holiday Tradition that Warms the Heart: Why the North Whitehall Tree Lighting Matters

For five years, this tree lighting has been one of the township’s most cherished traditions. It’s a night where kids clutch their mittens, parents laugh at how fast the hot chocolate disappears, and everyone feels that relatable, small-town closeness that makes North Whitehall special.

Jessica O’Donnell-Gower, Executive Vice President of the Affiliated Chambers for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce—and a proud township resident—shared the heart behind the event:

“We absolutely love bringing this tradition to life each year.”

Jessica O’Donnell-Gower

“…The North Whitehall Township Tree Lighting truly captures the heart of this community. It’s such a joy to see families, friends, and neighbors come together to celebrate the season and the strong sense of connection that makes North Whitehall so special.”

From the music to the lights to the laughter, this event brings a joyful blend of comfort, flavor, and fun-loving holiday spirit that feels worthy of bigger cities—but still perfectly at home right here.

What to Expect: Music, Magic, Reindeer, and Holiday Cheer

The celebration begins at 5:30 PM with performances from local community groups, setting the tone with holiday classics and cheerful energy. At 6:00 PM, guests will enjoy a special dance performance by the Innovative Arts Academy—always a crowd favorite.

But the real showstoppers?

  • Live reindeer and a charming petting zoo

  • Roaming holiday characters

  • Festive activities and hands-on crafts

  • Seasonal vendors offering unique gifts and treats

Families can warm up with complimentary hot chocolate and hot dogs served by the Upper Lehigh Lions Club, plus goodies from onsite food trucks. Kids can dive into a winter-themed craft area hosted by the Parkland Community Library, letting their creativity shine before heading off to explore.

Then comes one of the most fun-loving parts of the night: the North Pole Mailbox returns for its once-a-year appearance. On this single magical day, kids can drop off their letters to Santa—no postage, just pure old-school wonder.

And of course, the highlight at 6:30 PM:
The official tree lighting, led by a very special guest straight from the North Pole. Afterwards, families can visit Santa inside the barn for festive photos and holiday smiles.
