Kittenpalooza, cat rescue nonprofit, returns to Purr Haus in Emmaus June 3-4
Kittenpalooza, a family friendly celebration and fundraiser for two of the Lehigh Valley’s hardest working small cat rescue nonprofits will return to Purr Haus in Emmaus on the weekend of June 3-4.
From 2pm til 5pm on Saturday, June 3 and 11am til 2pm on June 4, volunteers from Aunt Helen’s Cats in Need of Hellertown and Crazy Cat Chicks Rescue from Kunkletown will be on hand to introduce visitors to adoptable kittens and share information about cat rescue.
There will be a basket raffle and Purr Haus will provide complimentary refreshments and donate a portion of sales during the event.
Attendees can win a door prize by bringing a donation of kitten food, litter, KMR or other items. A full list of requested items can be found on Purr Haus’ Facebook page.
The event coincides with “kitten season,” the time of year when feral and stray cats are most likely to give birth. Many kittens fall prey to predators, parasites and car accidents and die before reaching si months of age.
“Kittens born outside suffer.”
said Purr Haus owner Laurie Mason
Schroeder.
“We need to support cat rescue volunteers who care for homeless kittens and work to decrease the feral cat population in the Lehigh Valley.”
Photos and videos are encouraged during the event.
Purr Haus, located at 27 S. 7th Street in Emmaus is Lehigh Valley’s only cat-themed boutique, offering “The Best Stuff for Cats and The People Who Love Them.”
They carry a carefully curated stock of products emphasizing brands that promote cat health and give back to the cat rescue community.

Thanksgiving in Lehigh Valley: the perfect stuffing bread DOES exist – and it’s… [recipe inside]
This Thanksgiving in the Lehigh Valley, the perfect stuffing bread DOES exist – and it’s brioche. As in St Pierre Brioche Thanksgiving Stuffing
No Thanksgiving spread is complete without a hearty stuffing. While add-ins are a matter of preference, choosing the right bread is crucial. One underrated choice is eggy, rich brioche – and with St Pierre Bakery, you don’t need to go to France to get it.
Thanks to its butter and egg content, St Pierre’s Brioche Loaf provides the perfect balance of crisp toastiness while remaining soft and creamy inside, while its lightly sweet flavor adds a decadent quality that can still lean savory. Attached below is an approachable recipe for stuffing allowing for all the craveable crunch for the whole family with minimal effort required.
St Pierre Brioche Thanksgiving Stuffing
By @BrandiMilloy
Ingredients
1 loaf St. Pierre Brioche Bread
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 medium onion, diced
3/4 cup celery, diced
3/4 cup carrots, diced
1 cup mushrooms, diced
2 large eggs
1 tbsp. fresh rosemary, chopped
3 sprigs fresh thyme, just the leaves
1 tbsp. fresh sage, chopped
1 small apple (granny smith works well), peeled and diced
Salt and pepper
Directions
-
Preheat oven to 350 F. Cut brioche bread into 1” cubes and bake for about 10-15 minutes until toasted.
-
Meanwhile, into a pot over medium high heat add butter until melted. Add onion, celery and carrots and cook until everything starts to soften, about 7 minutes. Add mushrooms and cook for 2 minutes longer. Remove from heat and set aside.
-
Into a bowl whisk together the eggs, herbs, apples, mushrooms, and salt and pepper. Add your cooked vegetables and mix to combine.
-
Pour mixture on top of toasted bread and stir to combine. Bake stuffing for about 45 minutes. If your stuffing starts to get too brown, cover until finished baking. Enjoy!
As America’s favorite brioche brand, St Pierre’s products are widely available via grocery stores nationwide as well as Walmart.

Three Oak Steakhouse Delivers: Big Flavor, Great Service, located in Easton PA
Three Oak Steakhouse delivers: big flavor, great service, located in Easton, PA
When you visit the Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, you ask everyone about where to find good food.
Every foodie I’ve met gets a twinkle in their eye when they mention Easton’s Three Oak Steakhouse.
So I was excited to try it.
Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley is growing. And so are the food choices. People are demanding quality, service and ambience.
Does Three Oak Steakhouse hold up to these very high standard?
On a recent visit, I tasted their cocktails, caesar salad, 20 oz dry-aged Kansas City Steak, and a mushroom side dish.
Cuisine
Are the ingredients fresh? Is your plate well-made?
Exceptionally well-done. A wide variety of steak and seafood with high-end side dishes. The cocktails are mixed well. Balanced. The wine list is diverse with mostly traditional choices (Hello California Cab) and a few Old World and enough brave picks that would make a NYC wino grin.
My Caesar was crisp, slightly indulgent with house-made dressing. My 20 oz dry-aged Kansas City Steak was cooked perfectly, seared with a slight crust that provided just enough crunch. The mushrooms were extra juicy and prepared well to compliment my dinner.
Ambience
The setting is steakhouse perfect. Dim lighting. Wood tones. A selection of bar seating, smaller tables (think date night) and large tables for friends or business. The rooftop bar is a pleasant surprise and a fun hangout.
Service
Much like you’d expect from a high-end steakhouse, the service is exceptional. Fast, very knowledgable and helpful without being too “needy”. All the wait staff kept their distance letting you enjoy your time and yet magically arrive just when you need them
The servers, bartenders and wait staff are anticipating your needs and often a few steps ahead of you.
Hospitality
Does the restaurant deliver on the promise it makes to their customer?
Absolutely yes. Three Oak Steakhouse offers you an incredible night of excellent food and drink in a dramatic, cozy setting, with service that arrives just when you need them.
I can understand the smiles and starry eyes after my first visit. Three Oak Steakhouse is helping Easton and the Lehigh Valley establish themselves as an East Coast foodie destination.

Lehigh Valley’s Bethlehem named on Top 100 Best Places to Live in America
Lehigh Valley’s Bethlehem named on Top 100 Best Places to Live in America
Livability.com, a website ranking the nation’s most livable small and mid-sized cities, included Bethlehem on their prestigious list.
How was Bethlehem placed as one of the Best Places to Live in America
The curation is very selective, including factors such as economic stability, housing, amenities, infrastructure, demographics, social and civic capital, and health care.
Livability examines more than 2,300 small cities (population under 500,000) based on over 50 data points.
“If you’re a young person looking for a fresh start,
sick of living paycheck to paycheck due to insane rent prices and want to find a community that will welcome you with open arms,
this list is for you,”
Livability states in the report’s introduction released on July 19.
Bethlehem came in at No. 82 on the list while the No. 1 spot went to Madison, Wisconsin.
Other Pennsylvania cities to make the list were Pittsburgh, (at number 9) and State College (at number 85).
Does Bethlehem deserve to be Featured as one the Best Places to Live in America?
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania is a special place. Known as the “Christmas City”, with top industries and sectors, restaurants and entertainment venues .
Also high-quality educational institutions, such as Lehigh University and Moravian University, and Northampton Community College’s Fowler Family Southside Center.
Bethlehem’s strong economy is hosted by manufacturing and related industries.
Diverse employers as Lehigh Heavy Forge, a legacy of Bethlehem Steel; and Bowery Farming, founded in December 2020.
Whether you’re starting your family, starting a new career or just ready for a peaceful change of pace, Bethlehem has lots to offer you from education, to healthcare, to fun for the whole family.
